RIFLE-SHOOTING
WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION
NO MEETING THIS SEASON
The annual meeting of the Wellington Rifle Association was held at Garrison Hall last evening. Mr. H. Marshall presided.
Mr. Marshall said that tlio balajicoslicot was. the most satisfactory presented for many years. The year was started with a debit and concluded with a credit of about £9. He hoped tlio policy of encouraging the juniors would be continued.
The secretary (Mr. W. G. Fellingham) said that the. association's programme ba'?~Been. based oil 150 entries, and although only 133 were received, the prize money was paid out in full, thanks to Mr. Marshall, who gathered a liberal supply of ammunition, which was sold, and helped the association to pay its way. Thanks were duo to Co km el H. It. Potter (Gamp Commandant at- Treiitham) for his placing the Trentliam range at the disposal of the association.
Officers were oleoted as follow:— Patron, the Minister of Defence (Hon. J. Allen); vice-patron, Colonel R. J. Collins; secretary and treasurer,. Mr. W. G. Fellingham; president, Mr. H. Marshall; vice-presidonts, last year's re-elected.
It was decided not to hold _ a rifle meeting this season. The opinion was expressed that any v money availablo should be diverted into _ channels _ to help the country in its time of trial. The sum of £5 was voted to the Mayor's Patriotic Fund.
Thanks were expressed to DeputyPresident Smart for his work on the rifle range .
