GERMAN ATTACKS FAIL By Telegraph—Press AEeooiation—(JnpyTlglrt (Rec. November 21, 4.45 p.m.) _ Petrograd, November 20. A Russian official communique states: "A German attempt to cross tbe Dyina north-west of Fricdricbstadt failed. "The Germans made a futile attempt to reach tbe Styr, near Cha!rtorj'Hk station. "We retired near Qhartorysk to tho right bank, under cover of our .artillery." The enemy on the left bank of tho Styr mis unable to retain the newlyoccupied ground. We have reoccupied Czartorysk and the village of Kosliniitchi. '' GERMANS DRIVEN BACK. (Reo. November 21, 11 p.m.) Petrograd, November 21. A Russian communique _ says:—Tho Germans were driven back, in tbe region, of Ponivieos and tho railway westward.
