TERRIFIC ATTACK BY THE ITALIANS

The turn of the Serbian campaign compels Greece to take up a 'more definite attitude than she has yet assumed in the war, and much of the news to-day relates to her probable action, and to the forces operating, which are calculated to influence her decision. Lord Kitchener is at Athens, where ho interviewed King Constantino and the Prime Minister on Saturday. His presence in the Greek capital is regarded as' immensely strengthening the Entente position. According to one message, the Allies are dissatisfied with the verbal assurance of the Greek Government that Serbian, and Entente troops retreating into Greece will be unmolested, and are asking Greece to choose between immediate intervention and immediate demobilisation. Another report states that a commercial blockade of Greece- is contemplated. Various successes are claimed by the enemy in the Serbian campaign. One report states that Monastir has fallen. Attacking oil the Isonzo front the Italians have captured a considerable area of hill country covering the fortress of Gorizia. According to a French official report, the Bulgarians have been guilty of fiendish outrages upon tho Serbian population, sparing neither age nor sex.
