MIRAMAR BOROUGH AFFAIRS
MEETING OF THE COUNCIL.
A meeting of the Miramar Borough Council was held last evening, the Mayor (Mr. F. Townsend) presiding The following wore also present:— Councillors S. M. Stone, M. Tracey S. H. Underwood, H. Hawthorne, W.'h! Green, and J. Pollock.
A letter was received from the Au-ditor-General in reference to tlio 1915 balance-sheet, and tho question was asked on what authority the council relied for charging the sum of £823 Bs. lid., the cost of house-connee-tion, against' tho £25,000 sewerage.loan. The loan proposed, it was stated, only authorised the oonstruction of a sewerage system for the borough. Tho Town Cleric (Mr. R.. E. Bennett) stated that he had replied to the letter.
Mr. W. Barton wTote stating that ho did not think tlio council was justified in taking a strip of land amount-
ing to 14ft. frontage in Inglis Street, Seatoun, in connection with tho extension of the promenadp. It was rerolved to further negotiato with Mr. Barton on the matter.
Permission was granted to the Northland Boy Scouts to use the Seatoun ParS at Christmas for a camu site.
