GALLIPOLI DAY

SPORTS BODIES' FINAL ARRANGE. MENTS. There was an excellent attendance at tho final meeting of the sports seotion of the Gallipoli Day movement, held in tlie Town Hall last evening. • Mr. A. _Marrya,t,t occupied the chair. The various sub-committees submitted exhaustive reports and all arrangements are now comp'cte for the huge function to be hold at the Basin Reserve on Saturday afternoon. The programme will commence at 2 p.m. and will include items by the Drum and Bugle Band,42nd Company. Kilbirnie; Highland dancing; physical drill by Y.M.C.A. pupils • (ladies and boys) under Mr. 51. Tracey; ladies' hockey; military ballet by Miss Beere's pupils, in khaki costumo; boys' walk; two-mile harriers' race; grand display of mditary training and organised games by Technical Cadets,'under Lieut. Duffy ; hair-dressing and hat-trimming competition for wounded soldiers and ladies; Y.M.C.A. men's display; blindfold boxing; and other interesting events. On Saturday morning 70 pupils of the Rnseiieath School Choir, under the direction of the headmaster, Mr. Robt. Darroeh, will leave Courtonay Place at 10 o'clock in motor lorries, and will sing tho following patriotic songs in tho main streets of the city:—National Anthems of Britain, Belgium, Russia, and' France; "Rule, Britannia," solo on Lnmbton Quay by Mr. E. J. Hill : "The Soldier" ; "Lads in Navy Blue" ; "Sons of the Sea"; and "Canon Augiers." This programme will be carried out as follows : —Winder's Corner, 10.30 a.m.; Boulcott Street, 11 a.m.; Bank New Zealand, 11.30 a.m.; Kirkcnldie's. noon; and again at the Bank of New Zealand at 12.30 p.m. A number of boys from the Roseneakh and Hataitai Schools (lrossed as Allies will wait upon the citizens for their contributions.
