The Hospital Board yesterday appoint, ed Nurse Everitt and Misses Mary Clark, Edith P. Norris, and Ida M. Salter to be masseuses (vice Miss M. Neumann, resigned), and Mr. Rowland lowell dental surgeon on the honorary staff.

Major A Challinor Pitrchas of Auckland who has been engaged on medical cervice at the front, and who returned by tlio Willochra on October 29 last as medical officer in charge of the sick and wounded troops brought from Egypt by that vessel, arrived in Auckland on Tuesday. Major Purchas remained in Wellington after his arrival in tho Willochra in order to see his second son, i«lr. T. C. Purchas, of the Eighth Reinforcements. He will remain in Auckland for a short period and will return to the front in December,
Mr. George Levy has been appointed Deputy-Registrar of Births and Deaths for the district of Upper Hutt.
The Hospital Committee of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board reported to the board yesterday that an appreciation of the 1 services of the lato Sister Mary Gorman (who lost her life in the Marquette disaster) and Nurse Finnorty had been placed on record, and letters of condolence sent to their respective relatives.
At a meeting of the Miramar Borough Council last evening, Mr. Bennett, Town Clerk, was granted leavo of absence till the end 1 of the war, as well as throe months' pay in lieu of accumulated holiday leave. Mr. Bennett has enlisted with the Reinforcements, and will leavo for Trentham shortly.
Mr. T. A. Munro has been appointed by the Government to the'Otago Land Beard.
Constable Dunn, of Mount Cook Police Station, who has been transferred to Ashburton, will leave for the south to-night.
Sister Dora Weaver was yesterday appointed by tlie Hospital Board submatron of the Infectious Diseases Hospital (vice Miss Polden, resigned), and Son. Nurse Guflie was promoted to sister to be placcd in charge of the Clifton Terrace Hospital for Chronic Invalids. Tlie board also decided -that Sister Lloyd and_ Nurses Holmes, Barker, and Fogelin, whose services lmve > been accepted by the military authorities, should be granted extended leave of absence. Nurse Drake's resignation was received with regret.
