DISTRICT NURSING GUILD
The annual meeting of the District Nursing Guild of St. John, Wellington, >was held in St. John's Schoolroom yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Moorhouso (president) was in the chair. The report and balance-sheet, read by Mrs.. JMleston. honorary secretary, stated, in a condensed form, tho activities of the year. It ran as follows"From November 1, 1914, to October 31 1915 i tho records show tha.t 155 additional patients have been registered and 4890 visits have been paid to the sick poor jn their own homes. The last offices were carried out in connection with eight patients; 14 we.ro removed to the General Hospital, and one to the Home of Compassion. According. ,to statistics, 1945 cases have been treated sinco the appointment of tho first district nurse in 1903, being an average of 162 yearly. During the year Nurse Macandrew resigned her position in order to: go to England and volunteer for nursing in connection with the war. The committee, while approving her action, regret tho loss of her : valuable services. Nurse Walton was promoted to senior nurso and Nurse Jenkins ap.pointed as assistant nurse. During t'lie year Mrs. W. B; Fisher resigned: rthe position of secretary and treasurer, which she' has hold since the formation of the guild,. Mrs. Christie, who has been acting-secretary for tho year, resigned, and Mrs. Bolleston was appointed secretary. During the year the guild, in connection with the Wellington Nursing Division, has done much work in providing clothing, etc., for the wounded. Cases of clothing have been sent to the St. John Ambulance Base Hospital. The thanks* of the guild aro tendered to the Gear Company, the Terrace Young Women's Guild, and many others for gifts of food, clothing, etc.; to subscribers ,for their continued support; to Mr. Innis, the. Press, the auditor (Mr. Batten), and various medical practitioners, and all others who have lielp-d in many ways in the work of i.'he guild."
The balance-sheet disclosed an income in all of £476 17s. Scl., in which was included tin sum of £295 interpst, and £13 12s._ in subscriptions. The expenditure side of the sheet amounted to £333 16s. • 4d., leaving a credit balance of £143 Is. 4d. The report and balance-sheet were adopted by the meeting, and a hearty vote of thanks proposed by Hiss Robieson on behalf of Mrs. Tripe, who was unable to he present, to Mrs. Moorliouse, for her great assistance and continued interest in the guild, was carried. An apology from Mrs. Gibbons, who was also unable to be present, was-received.
