ANXIOUS TO ENLIST. (By Telegrniit'- VcwlVJon< Auckland, November 15. Although the islands comprising the Gilbert and Ellice Islands Protectorate are far removed from the seat of war, Mr. I'j, C. Elliott, Resident Commissioner, who is stationed at Ocean Island, and is en route to Sydney, says the .native's have subscribed £3000 for the I J rince of Wales' Fund. He believes there would be no difficulty in raising 5000 natives as an expeditionary foTce, similar in physique to his orderly, ivho is 6ft. 2in. high,_ and weighs lu stone, and is most anxious to join the Maori Reinforcements.
