Melbourne, November 12. In the House, Mr. Cook (Leader of the Opposition) warmly approved • Mr.Hughes's visit to England, and was convinced the war proposals of Australia would be benefited by the presence of a responsible Minister at the seat of the Empire. He pledged the Opposition's support to any action tho Government considered necessary during Mr. Hughes's absence. COLONIAL OFFICE VIEWS. (Rcc. November 12, 8.30 p.m.) London, November 12. Rcuter's states that the Colonial Offico had no intimation of Mr. Hughes's coming. There is no question of an Imperial Conference, but if Mr. Hughes, liko Sir R. Borden, comes in to tho Colonial Secretary's general invitation, tho Government \vll warmly welcome him. STATEMENT BY MR. MASSEY. Mr. Hughes's statement was referred to tho Prime Minister 'yesterday, but Mr. Massey said ho could give no other reply than he had given on tho subject on previous occasions. He had nothing to say about a possible mission to London. As lio had already said, there v-'ero certain very important matters which must be dealt with and cleared lip before it was possible for the finance Minister and himself to leave New Zealand. .
