CHRISTMAS SHILLING GIFT
—4 FROM AMATEUR SPORTS BODIES. The council of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association is appealing to all tennis chibs to do their utmost to further the Christmas Shilling Fund inaugurated by the Amateur Sports Bodies for the purpose of supplying tobacco and siveets to the troops at the Dardanelles and Samoa. The fund closes on November 22, and the circular issued to all clubs within the Wellington provincial district sets out the following:— 1. That clubs be asked to either arrange a club tournament or to -undertake to collect from members the sum of Is. per member. 2. That tho secretary of each club notify without fail, on or before Wednesday, November 10, J. A. B. Howe and A. J. Petherick (address, Winder's Building, Cuba and Manners Streets), that hia or her club proposes to take tho matter lip, and that it is expected a sum to be stated is likely to be available by his or her club. 3. In the event of a tournament or an individual canvass being undertaken, tho actual proceeds must roach J. A. B. Howe and A. J. Petherick not later than Monday, v November 22. 4. A club may prefer to guarantee a specific amount and take any course it may deem desirable to reimburse its fluids.
