THOSE PEACE RUMOURS

':NO HALF MEASURES WILL BE ACCEPTABLE"

DOMINION'S VIEW Some remarks about the alleged peaoe negotiations which tho Germans seem anxious to promote were made by the Prime Minister to a Dominion reporter yesterday. "I have no official knowledge of the rumours with regard to peace negotiations wlrich are referred to in the cablegrams appearing in the newspapers, nor do I thinlc any importance need bo attaolied to them," said Mr. Massey, "but speaking for myself—and I am confident I can spoak for the Dominion—l trust that when the proper timo conies, no conditions will be considered which do not provide for the fullest possiblo compensation being paid (in tho way of indemnity) to those nations which have suffered by tho action of Germany and Germany's allies in connection with the present war, or which might allow of Germany in years to come again attempting to disturb the peace of the world, and repeat the many barbarous and horrible actions of the last fifteen months. No half-mea-sures will lie acceptable to the people of the Dominions who havo given freely of their best for a great cause, and in an extremely, serious crisis."
