COLLISION ON A BRIDGE. A collision occurred on the Ruamahanga bridge, near Masterton, on Sunday night, which resulted in a horse being killed, and Mr. George Svkes, cycle agont, sustaining a slight concussion of the brain and sovere bruises, which necessitated'his admission to the Masterton Hospital. Hotel, where Dr. Hardwick Smith examined him. A broken collarbone was disclosed, and this was set by' Dr. Henry, who was summoned, by the police. Dr. A r a.n Slyke was taken to the Bowen Street Private Hospital, where 110 is progressing satisfactorily. A AVIDOAV'S DEATH. All inquest was held before Mr. D. G A. Cooper, S.M., yesterday, coilcorning the death of Jane Edwards, 75 years of ago, a- widow, who died at iter lodgings, 28 Pirie Street, on Friday arternooii'. 'Of late the deceased :ha'd complained of feeling unwell, and for a week prior to her death had been 111 bed. On. Friday, morning sho was given a cup of tea, and at 1 p.m. appeared to bo sleeping, but at 8 p.m. was found to ho dead. Dr. Gilmer, who made a post-mortem examination, said that the heart and other organs were decidedly fatty, and there was advanced Bright's disease. Death was due to fatty degeneration of the heart, accelerated by Bright's disease. A verdict was returned in accordance with tho medical evidence. '£ CARPENTER DROWNED. By Telesraph—Prws Association. Auckland, November 8. George Pitcaithley Bruce Stowart, agod 67, a carpenter, was drowned at Ivolmkoliu, in the Hokianga Rivor, on Saturday night. OLD MAN RUN OVER BY A TRAIN. Auckland, November 8. Sydney John Hill, aged 64, was run into by a train, at Papakura to-night, and died of the injuries received.
