THE TEPID BATHS
9 It is now only a question of w«sn» beforo Wellington wiit be blessed with a thoroughly up-to-dat tepid swimming bath. The bath, which has been erected by the committee of the Boys'. Institute at the finenew- premises at Mount Cook, lias been previously described m The J)ominiox, but- since then some additions have been made. A water-chute, Roman rings, high-diving platforms, and other mediums of diversion have been installed, and by the erection of galleries along either side, and step-seats at either end, considerable accommodation for spectators has been provided. Tho system of heating the water is a very simple ono, with tho added advantage that unliko tepid baths in other cities the services of a certificated man will not bo necessary. The fires in the boilers will at intervals have to' bo replenished in tlio ordinary way. Tim committee are now awaiting tho arrival of a filter (to cleanse the water before it enters the bath), which should, it is understood, be here in a week or two. The opening ceremony will take placo immediately upon the installation of th? -filter.
