Tlio following item appears in tho Auckland Church Gazette (Anglican), under the heading "I'arochial Nows": —"Corporal Bassett, _ V.C.—Wo naturally feel a little family pride that the I'i'Kf. V.C. in tho New Zealand troops in (.ho present war should fall to an old Hi. Sepulchre's hoy. Corporal Ras!(c,l,l/ was formerly a choir hoy and a scholar in the Sunday School, and our congratulations aro given te him for his gallant achievement."
