MOUNT COOK SCHOOL

The monthly meeting of the Mount Cook School Committee was held ou Wednesday evening, and in this connection it'is worthy of mention that of the members of the committee there are three Old Boys of the sohool, Messrs. A. C. Blair, J. M. Wilson, and F,,. M'Nair, the two firstrmentioned having started' their school days in the present Mount Cook Infants School,, being transferred in due course-to tho Boys' School. . Quite recently the committee learned that the present scholars of the Boys' School were desirous of forming a ten-nis-club, and by way of linking tho present with the past, tho "Old Boys" of tho committee undertook to obtain from Old Boys of the school and others subscriptions for tho purpose of supplying a tennis club outfit for tho use of tho school. It was reported at the meeting that their efforts had mot with success, and that the school club had been supplied with sufficient racquets and tennis balls to commence practice. Head teachers reported the following roll numbers:—Boys, 370; girls, 302; and infants, 417: a grand total of 1089, with an average attendance of 958. ' Teachers reported that all arrangements had been completed for carrying out a oomplete canvass of the school district on Guy Fawke's day for donations in aid of the Distressed Belgian Children's Fund."
