Abraham M. W. Salaman, a claim for £10 16s. 7d. for board and lodging, judgment was given for the plaintiff for £10 lis. Bd., and costs totalling £3 7s. Police cases were taken before Mr. D. G. A. Cooper," S.M.-.'John Gouzior and John M'Alister, who were charged with absenting themselves. from the steamer Raugatira without'first obtaining leave, wero .sentenced txK.iniprisonment with hard labour for 14 days.. '•• • Bernard Charles M'Mahon and' Walter Ross appeared on remand to answer a charge of having travelled on the Mapourika from Greymouth to Wellington without paying tho necessary fare. Both appeared in the uniform of members of the Expeditionary Force. A fine of £1 7s. 6d. was imposed by the Magistrate in each case, the alternative being three days' imprisonment. Sub-Inspector Mackinnon informed the Magistrate that Ross had been serving a sentence of five years' imprisonment, but had been released on probation by the Prisons Board. He. had broken the conditions of his probation, and would therefore have to return to gaol. ... _.'
