ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
TRAM MISHAP. A man, named Edward George, a resident of Mitchelltown, fell while alighting from an Aro Street tram at the corner of Willis Street and Ingestre Street, at 25 minutes past 9 o'clock last night. He was badly bruised and shaken, ,and, after being attended by Dr. H. E. Gibbs, he was removed to the Hospital.
THORNDON RESIDENT'S'DEATH,
Mr. James Foster Adams, a wellknown resident of Thorndon during the last thirty-five years, was found dead in his workshop yesterday morning. It is stated that just recontly Mr. Adams has been' greatly worried over his business and other matters. Shortly after 4_ o'clock yesterday morning ho left his residence—ll Mulgravo Street—and went to his workshop at the rear. At ten minutes to eight be was discovered, by Mr. William Walker, with a gunshot wound in the head. He was dead, and a ride was lying alongside the body. The late Mr. Adams was about sixty years of age, and had been in business as a plumber at ThorndtfKEor over thirty-five years. • For a long timo ho was a prominent membor of the Wellington Fire Brigade, which he joined in 1874. In 1880 he was promoted to the rank of foreman, and seven years later to that of lieutenant. He was tho holder of a large number of gold and silver medals for brigade work. He was lxrn in London, and came out to Now Zealand in 1873, being apprenticed to Mr. G. Welch, of Stratford. About five years later he came to Wellington and commenced business on his own account. He. was the president of the Wellington Working Men's Club in 1894. An inquest will be held.
