MR. MASSEY AT PALMERSTON
THE DEAL IN CHEESE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Palmerston North, November 4. In opening tho new cattle pavilions at the Manawatu. A. and I*. Show to-day, Mr. Massey, referring to agricultural matters, congratulated the people ou the splendid season, and-said tho high prices were due to the war, but lie felt sure producers would be glad to take lower prices if the war wcro brought to a speedy and successful conclusion by Britain and licr Allies. Ho said he was at present engaged in a deal between the Imperial Government and New Zoaland producers for nearly one million pounds worth, of cheeso for the troops. During the past few years New Zealand had greatly increased her reputation as a producing country, and had secured 454 awards for exhibits of produce. ' .:
When the war ended high prices would discontinue, and we would havo to look for fresh markets, probably in the- Eastern States of America. With the fine advertisement Now Zealand produce is obtaining he anticipated no difficulty in this connection.
