PTOMAINE POISONING
ISLANDER RECRUITS AFFECTED. ■ (By Teleiraph.—Press AesoclMlon.) Auckland, November 2. An epidemic suggestive of ptomaine poisoning this morning affected nine men of the Island Section of the Native .Contingent at Narrow Neck. Many were violently sick, and suffered acute, pain in the stomach, but emetics had good cffect. The diet question has been a matter of sonic difficulty since the Nieuans arrived, as tho ordinary camp fare does not suit them. '
