'■ ■ : « THE PENSIONS PROBLEM. (By Tel«traDb.—Press Aiwoclatlon.) Palmerston N., October 30. The Patriotic Society is concerned with tic question of pensions for fallen soldiers' dependents. The Mayor instanced the oaso of two delicate girls, whose two brothers who supported them went to the war and both men were killed. An application to the board fof pensions was unconditionally turned down. The Mayor said this was a serious matt-or, : and thought' it was the duty of . the society to do something. He also instanced another case of an even more glaring nature. It was unanimously decided to thoroughly investigate the cases, with a view to taking further action.
