THE CHRISTMAS GIFT FUND
4 MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive "of the Associated Amateur Sports Bodies, which has in train the raising of the fund to provide the soldiers on Galli : poli and at Samoa with Christmas gifts, was held in No. 1 Committee Room, Town Hail, last evening. Mr. C. G. Wilson presided. It was reported that the Union Steam Ship Company had consented to allow collection-boxes 'to be placed on tile ferry steamers and on the West Coast steamers. Reports were received of the progress of the various collectors, which for the most part were satisfactory. Subscriptions additional to those already published have been received as follow: —Commercial Travellers, £238 Os. IOJd.; Staff of Sargood, Son, and Ewen, £4 175.; Wellesly Club Members, £23 125.; Cathie and 801*4. 9s. ; Turnbull, Hickson, and Gooder', £1 7s. The fund totals to date £'132 lis. ll^d. It was decided that on November 20 ■—the last day of the fund—that there be. instituted among the ladies of NewZealand a grand effort, and that the day should be called "Gallipoli Day." It was also decided to ask Her Excellency, Lady Liverpool, to convene a meeting of ladies in Wellington; with the object of sotting the scheme m motion.
