ROUTE MARCHING
'A BIGGER PARTY OUT. Captain Donald Simson's scheme Tor getting men fit against possible eventu-, alities is growing in popularity, and yesterday the little baud who did the rcund of the bays the preceding Sunday was swelled to the number of about 40, amongst the "recruits" being a. detach-, ment from B Company of the National Reserve, Mr. Partridge in command. The rendezvous was at the foot of Boulcott Street 1 ,, and at 9.30 the party set out up Boulcott Street to Kelburn, .via The Terraco and Mount Street, through Kelburn over the viaduct to Karori Cemetery, down into the valley, and along the road behind the wireless station, past Wilton's Bush to Wadestown, and down into town via Molesworth Street, arid so back to Boulcott Street again. The distanco travelled was about seven or eight miles, and as the journey was finished at 12.45 p.m., the pace was not severe. These route marches are not' intended as endurance tests. The task set is not above the powers of the ordinary healthy middle-aged man.
It is suggested that next Sunday tho route ■will be over Brooklyn, down Happy Valley, and round home through! Island Bay, via Newtown, and it is hoped by the promoters that the Brooklyn and Island Bay unite of the National Reservo may send representative bodies; 9.30 a.m. is the time, and tho coiner of Boulcott and Willis Streets, the plaoe of tryst.
