Co., Ltd., report:— The fortnightly sale of wool, skins, hides, and .tttilow were held yesterday afternoon, when we offered a good catalogue to tho usual attendance of buyers. All good lines of sheepskins sold at an advance of Jd. to id. per lb., whilst inferior and ■ eeedy sorts" were firm at last sales' prices. Prices for wool, hides, and tallow were til so on it pat with rates ruling then.' Messrs. Levin and Co. Teport that in, wool nothing was offered except a few odd badges. Wool is being held for the opening sale of the season on November 17. The market for sheepskins was strong and. eager at ah advance of a halfpenny to three»farthinge all round. The hide market was firm. Heavy and medium ox advanced one halfpenny, light ox a farthing, and cows and calf were "unchanged. Tallow was firm. ~ , _ Messrs. W. and 6. Turnbull and Co., Ltd., report very keen competition for combing skins, which advanced 3d. per lb.; other sorts sold at rates on a par with those ruling . at the last eales. Hides sold at slightly easier prices, end tallow at better prices than last sale. Messrs. Murray, Koberts, and Co, report offering a .catalogue of 4400 sheepskins,'6oo hides "and calfskins, when they experienced keen competition. The markot for sheepskins showed a decided advance, being .from |d. to Id. per lb. higher than last sale, all round; good sound lines, of well-woolled skins being in especial request. There was also a good demand for hides at prices slightly in advance of last sales' rates. Very littlo .wool was offered—mostly bad lota—but these sold at full priceß. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report that keen competition -was the ' order of the day. Prices for best skins showed a further rise of a halfpenny whilst tallow also, improved upon late prices. Hides were on a -par with last eale. . , The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report that a fairly large catalogue of skins and hides was -offered. Competition was keen f9r all good lots at last sales' rates, and in some cases slight .advances. Only bag wool was offered, and this met with indifferent attention. .
