i, Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., toport that on Thursday they held a successful unreserved, clearing 1 sale oil account of Mr. W. Coulter, IVoodville. They offered. 15 'cows; which sold ot from £5 10s. to"-£10,'.'-averaging .out at £6 lis., which, cohsiderihg-'tliat' the cowc havo been in milk for ne&rly three months, was exceptionally good. Sows in pig sold at £2 17s. 6d„ £i 55., to £4 13s. 6d.; porkers made as high as 285.: slips, np to 16s. Messrs. Abraham and Williams, Limited, report on the cattle fair held at Masterton on Tuesday as follows:—Tho total yarding was. considerably, in excess- of advertised numbers, several of tho smaller lots having to be accommodated hi the sheep pens. Taken on the whole, ths quality was good and equal to that of recent years, after allowance being made for tho disastrous dry season tho previous year. The absehco of grown bullocks was decidedly noticeable, - and those that, were offored lacked condition, but the competition was decidedly 'keen. ' Tho' sale went with a swing from the start, competition being animated throughout, and a total clearance resulted. Our principal sales wctc as follow:—90 2-year steers, on. behalf of Annedale Station, made £8 53.; 169 aged cattle, ciri account of Brancepeth 3tatio v n, made £8 Is.-; 2-year steers; on behalfjof.Str. Hugh Williams, Kumukumti, mode £8;' Messrs. Shaw and Son's 2-year steers made £8 2s. 6d.,-and -heifers of same description made £6 25.; 2-year store bullocks on behalf of Air. Erl Williams, somewhat low-condi-tioned, made ' £12; fat ■ bullocks from Brancepeth made £18, and cows from tho same, station made £9 10s., £10 2s. 6d„ and £10 10s.; . oows and calves offered by Mr. G. E.' Allen made'£7 325.'6 d. Several lots of "dairy" sorts were offered, all of which sold readily, and, taken on tho whole, the oattle fair can be described as the best sale of the kind ever conducted in. the ;Wairarapa. ' ' ' The New-Zealand lioan and Mercantile Agency. Co.'; Ltd., reports on the. Feilding oattle fair as follows:—There was & very large entry of good. Quality cattle at tho fair on. Friday. Of "a total -entry of 27C0 head bur offering consisted of 830, and with the exception of one small lino wo quitted every pen under the hanuner. The sale went. with, a swiiig from start to'finish, .bidding' being brisk, 'and prices in every case being ■in favour of vendors. TVo topped the market for store bullocks with a pen of fresh, good duality bullocks, offered on', account of Messrs. bhannon Bros., which realised the good price of £14 7s. 6d. The fair was.the most successful that has ever been held in the district.-- A fair entry of sheej) also came forward, and mot with a' good demand.
