LABOUR DAY SPORTS

SHEEP-SHEARING COMPETITION. A specially interesting feature of the postponed Labour Day sports at Newtown Park this afternoon will be the sheep-shearing competition. It will be conducted on lines similar to the one which attracted much attention on Monday. The competitors and officials will bo at the Park gates at 2.30 with the sheep, about 50 in number, and the turn-out which was used before. The competition will begin at 3 o'clock, and there will be a largo number taking part. Some attractive prizes havo been presented as under Machine shearing: First prize, Rotheram watch, valued at £6 155., presented by Mr. Mat Muir, "est- Office Hotel; second prize, suit case, valued at £3 35., presented by Mr. Herb'. Price; third prize, gold medal, valued at £2 25., presentejl by Mr. E. 1. Pi'ou3. Blade-shearing: First prize, trophy valued at £3 35., presented by Mr. J. M'Parland; second prize, trophy valued at £2 25., presented by Mr. J. Lewis; third prize, trophy valued at> £1. Is., presented by Mr. J. Cruickshank. 11l addition there will bo two snecial prizes—one for the best work" Sone, presented by Mr. J. M'Donald, and valued at £3 35.; the other for the fastest time with machine presented by Mr. S. Coiner, and valued at £2 2s.
