LABOUR DAY CELEBRATIONS
In our advertising columns there is published an appeal lo shopkeepers of the City from tlio Mayor (11 r. Joliu P. Luke) to observe to-morrow afternoon us the weekly lialf-boliday. The Mayor's reason for making this appeal is to plead the cause of bis War Distress fund, which is to benefit io Hie extent of half the net proceeds of the Labour Day celebration sports on Newtown Park tomorrow afternoon. Owing to the inclement weather on Monday (Labour Day) a postponement was unfortunately rendered necessary. Mr Luko hopes that the shopkeepers will acccdc to his request.
