EMPLOYERS AND RECRUITING
COMPULSORY SERVICE FAVOURED By Telegraph—Press A6sooletion. Dunedin, October 28. A largo meeting of employers was held this evening to consider the question of forwarding recruiting in the district. The Hon. Jas. Allen gave a speech, outlining the training that is being carried on, and further proposals in the same direction, and statmg that the demand on New Zealand during the next 12 mouths would be for 10,000 men. ' Tho following motion" was carried unanimously"That this meetine recommend the Government' to enforco compulsory service in New Zealand as soon as possible." The meeting also decided to recommend all employers when • filling vacancies on staffs to engage no man physically fit and of military age and without responsibilities, but that _ these positions be filled by returned soldiers or men precluded from going to the front.
