COMPLIMENTARY CONCERT
An excellent programme was presented sit the complimentary concert which was given in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last oveuing to Miss Harriot Pearson, a Wollington musician, who, through ill-health, will in all probability be retiring from professional life. He opening number was a song ''Mountain Lovers" (Squire), by Mr. H. l r . Wood. Other vocal contributors to the first part of the programme wore: Miss Lonsdale, with a humorous song j Miss Frances Bavrey, with Sanderson's "Spring's Awakening"; Mr. Frank Charlton, "1 Asked the Sun" (Knox Allen); Miss Keuee Querce, "Golden Bird" (fclayden AVood), and Master Winston M'Cart'hy with one of his humorous Scotch songs. Mr. Herbert Bloy contributed the following violin soli: "Consolation" (Squire) and "Butterfly'' (Boliin). The second part of the programmo opeiicd with a vocal duet sung by Mrs. Rosetvarne and Mr. Frank Chariton, "Still is the Night" (Gotze), and following it Mr. J. M. Clark gave a recitation. Mrs. Bosewarne sang "Women of Inver" (Loughborough), a dramatic composition, and Miss "Lonsdale and Master Winston M'C'artliy gave furthor humorous winLrilmtioiis. Mrs. Ernest Queree was the aeompanist of the evening, and Mr. E. J! Hill was musical director. Mr. J. Dykes was the secretary. With such a programme as the foregoing it may easily "he seen that the concert was of excellent merit, and encores were frequent.
