SUBURBS V. WELLINGTON. The Wellington Chess Club's mat-els against the Combined Suburbs, wliich was commenced a month ago, was concluded 011 Saturday evening, Suburbs winning comfortably with a margin of eight games. Ninety-six players wore engaged, each ol' whom was furnished with the name and address of his opponent before the match commenced. The two dozen games which were contested on tho opening night of play yielded no advantage to eit'her side. 'Hie remaining twnnt.v-foiir games wero ;;ot off as opportunity offered during the ensuing four weeks, and during this time Hie Suburbs' representatives, steadily forged ahead. The teams were well matched at tho higher boards, but at the lower boards the Suburbs showed that they had a very '.espcctahle "tail," the olub team being unable to show more than three wins and four draws at the last eighteen boards.
