THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the French . Club for tho election of officers and general business was held on Thursday night. Madame do Oleene presided and there was a good attendance of members. Reports showed that the finances were in a souud condition, and that-, in. : spite of the cuforced absence of several of tho most prominent members, through circumstances connected with the present war, the club had passed through a very successful session. Hie examiners reported that the club's an-' nual examination had been held on October 16 with very satisfactory results. - " The following caudidates were deemed worthy of special mention: —Seniors Janet Anson, gold medal, 1; Phyllis Mather, disqualified for silver medal, on account of having been awarded one last year, 2; Clifford Bowler and Nessie Moncrieff (equal in morit), silver medal each, 3 and, 4; MaTgaret Kids ton, honourable mention, 5. Juniors: Dorothy Featonby, certificate, 1;' Thelma Barr, certificate, 2; Ida Jacka, certificate, 3. Also Bell Elmslie, specially mentioned.

Tho following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, Mr. James Macintosh, Vice-Consul for France : president, Captain Barclay; vice-presidents,-Sir Robert Stout, Sir Francis Bell, M.L.C., Messrs. A. A. S. Menteath, W. B. Hudson, H. F. Battey, Madame do Cleene, Mrs. Seville, Miss Van Staveren; sccretary-general, Mr. 0. J. Cooke; minute secretary, Madame Dechanet M'lntosh; treasurer, Miss Mead; librarian, Miss Lockie; committee, Mesdarnes Paali and Simon, Misses Hind, M'Diarmid, and Prendergast, Messrs. G. E. B. Adamson, B. W. White, and T. King. Votes of thanks were passed to the officers and to others who had helped to make the past session so successful.
