DESPATCH OF TROOPS
IN. FOUR-WEEKLY DRAFTS. . A statement concerning certain detail alterations in the arrangements for tho dispatch of transports to the front was made by the Defence Minister (the Hon. J. Allen) yesterday. "We havo now found it- possible," said the Minister, "to arrange the transports into four pairs, leaving tho Dominion at regular intervals of every four weeks, instead of every calendar month. By so doing thirteen four-week-ly drafts can be dispatched in the year instead of twelve, as previously outlined in Parliament. By adopting this system the numbers of each diaft will be reduced by 210, and since there will be four drafts in training at a time in camp the strength will be reduced by four times that number, making an actual reduction of 840 in the number of men in camp at one time. This will reduce tho expenso and improve the facilities for training. The number called up for tho 10th will still further be reduced by 600, owing to tho fact that tho reinforcements and reserves required for the 3rd and 4th Rifie Brigades in camp will not bo necessary until the 11th Reinforcements aro called up."
