Mrs. Salek, 216 the Terrace, will be very glad to receive collections of rags or discarded scraps of cloth for the purpose of sending them out to the soldiers at Trent'harn, who use them for cleaning their rifles and buttons. Anyone wishing to assist in the matter should either send their contributions to Mrs. Salek, or, if inconvenient, she will send for them.

Yesterday morning a party of about twenty-eight ladies journeyed out to Ngahauranga for the purpose of cleaning and cutting up tho fruit for the Christmas puddings which have been donated by the Wellington Meat Company for tho soldiers at the front. A strenuous day's work was accomplished, and in addition to the fruit (fully 195 pounds) dealt with, a largo portion of tho plum puddings was practically made. The Mayoress (Mrs. Luke) went out with the party, and Mrs. Crawford, tho secretary of the Countless of Liverpool Fund Committee, was also present for'part of the time.

Dr. and Mrs. Fitchctt are staying at Miss Malcolm's. Word has been received by them that their son, who was invalided to England from the Dardanelles with enteric fever, is returning to New Zealand by the Tofua.
