The public of Wellington will have an opportunity of renewing acquaintance w !. , . ' P o P u lar oratorio, "Elijah," which is to be performed in the Town Hall on Thursday, October 28, by the Eoyal Wellington Choral Society, under the conductorship of Air. Bernard Page. The box plan opens at the Bristol t<> morrow morning at 9 o'olock, when holders of 25., as well as 3s. tickets, can reserve their seats without extra charge. More than usual interest attaches to this performance, as it will be Mr. Page's first appearanco in New Zealand as condoctor of such a large body of musicians. Iho chorus work is well in hand, and for this concert it has been decided, in addition to the full orchestra, to utilise the grand organ. An exceptionally strong cast of soloists have been engaged. Mrs. Gower Burns, of Christchurch, is to sing the soprano, Mi 66 Mina Caldow is to undertake the beautiful contralto music, the tenor part has been allotted to Mr. Martin Duff, of Duncdin, while Mr. John Prouse, who is regarded as the finest "Elijah" in the Dominion, is to sing the baritone solos. Master Rodney PankhuTSt is to sing the part of the "Youth," which part is usually taken by the soprano. Mr. Kerry will preside at the organ. Tho prices will bo 3s. (reserved), 2s. (reserved), and Is.
