BRITISH EXPLOITS IN THE BALTIC GERMAN DESTROYER SUNK SUBMARINE FIGHTS FOUR WARSHIPS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Copenhagen, October 15. A British submarine attacked a German cruiser and two destroyers in tho Baltic. Tho submarine torpedoed and sank a destroyer. The others iicd. Later. There was a terrific cannonade off Moen Island on Wednesday morning. A German cruiser and three torpedoboats were circling round a British submarine, and firing incessantly. Suddenly thero was a deafening explosion, as a torpedo hit one torpedo-boat and split her in halves.- She sank like a stone. _ The .submarine remained in tho vicinity, but the'cruiser and torpedoboats fled southward. No survivors were seen. German ships arrived in the evening, but tlioir searchlights failed to locate the submarine. In consequence of the British submarine successes, German warships are escorting all merchantmen in, tho Baltic.
ANOTHER SCORE SECOND TORPEDO-BOAT SUNK (Rec. October 16,. 3.40 p.m.) London, October 16. Reuter's correspondent at Copenhagen states that the evening papers report that another German torpedoboat was sunk oil Thursday afternoon by the British submarine El 9, near Faxo (Denmark). T?ie German flotilla which was in action on Wednesday was returning with reinforcements when some fishermen in the vicinity heard an explosion and saw a- great column of water rise. A second torpedo-boat disappeared and tho German flotilla again hurried off.

there is no official news of tho naval action, as it was fought three-quarters of a mile from the land, and nothing certain is known.
Fishermen declare that they saw some ships disappear after a cannonading. Anothet Copenhagen message- states that a British submarine was attacked in thg/Sound. The submarine fired shells at a torpedo-boat, which was sunk. ) SIX GERMAN TRANSPORTS YET ANOTHER BRITISH EXPLOIT The Higli Commissioner reports:— London, October 17, 4.50 a.m. "A British submarine sank six Germans transports and compelled one to run ashore."

Mr. Frederick Palmer, of "Collier's Weekly," describes a visit he ivas permitted to make to tho British Fleet in the North Sea. A destroyer was placed at his disposal, and he journeyed to an unnamed port to the "serried lines of Dreadnoughts." He declares that he will bo able to convince America that the British Fleet is absolutely submarine proof. ■ "I cannot," he says, "say all that I was permitted to see and learn, but if the people are worrying about torpedoes menacing the British warships they may dismiss their fears."
The article supplies strong confirmation of tho Fleet's power at any time to accomplish its primary objective, and of the immense reserves of strength available to meet almost any conceivable emergency. Yunnan (6747 tons), an dtwo other French steamers were torpedoed in the Aegean Sea- without warning. Eight people were killed and five wounded on tho I Yunnan.
