MARANUI SURF & LIFE-SAVING CLUB
Life-saving operations, liko everything else, has been seriously affected by the war. The annual report of tho Maranui Surf and Life-saving Club mentions this fact, hut points out that while the club has lost many of it 3 mombors through the war, there has been proportionately loss work to do in keeping the Lyall Bay beach freo from accident. Because of the war, very little was accomplished in the interests of the lloyal Life Saving Socioty, only two awards being placed to fho club's credit. Miss M. Nolan was the 11011. teacher's certificate, and Mr. F. J. Wilson tho diploma of the socioty. During tho year tho club's teams gave successful demonstrations with the lifesaving reel at Titahi Bay and Petono, and assisted in tho formation of tho Upper Hutt Royal Life-saving Branch. Teams were also present at tlio opening functions of tho Pneknkariki, Island Bay and Worser Bay Clubs. The thanks ot tlio club are tendered to all those who gavo tho club financial support and to other practical helpors.
