RIFLE-SHOOTING

OLD NAVALS' OLTJB. The third annual meeting of tho Old Wellington Naval Defence Rifle Club was held in the Naval Boating Society's Piooms on Thursday evening, when there wa.s a fair muster of incmbers. Tit a chair was occupied by President J. M. Rabe, who, in the course of his opening remarks, referred specially to those members who had gone to the front, and before proceeding with the general business of tils evening he moved a rote of sympathy to tho relatives of these members who had lost their lives. Tho names are as follow:—Major A. G. Hume, Lieut. L. Hugo, and Lieut. H. E. Voyce. These members wero on the active iist of tho Naval llifle Club when they departed for the front, and by their loss tho club had not only lost members, but real friends and supporters. The annual report and balancesheet was considered highly satisfactory, a credit balance being carried forward to this year. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr. J. M. Rabc (re-elected); deputy-president, Mr. W. Harris (re-elected); lion, secretary, Mr. F. E. Franklyn (re-elected); lion, treasurer, Mr. J. Alexandor (re-elected); committee, Messrs. R. Pringle, J. Clayden, P. Campbell, R. J. Gray, and A. FeHows (the first throe being re-elect-ed); auditor, Mr. F. Standidgo; handicapper, Sir. R. Fellows; Selection Committeo, President J. Rabe, DeputyPresident Harris, and Mr. A. Fellows; delegates to Wellington Rifle Association Union. President J. Rabe, DeputyPresident W. Harris, and Mr. R. Fellows. This afternoon members of tho club intend to renovate their Miramar range, mid it is expected tbat the club will commence its shooting season on the following Saturday, or, at the latest, by October 29.
