''Owing to special arrangements wliicli are being made for the drawing of the Southland Patriotic Society's art uniou in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, the time for tlie 6alo of tickets lias boen further extended until Thursday, October 21. The public have been given every chance of assistiug the wounded soldiers by taking a chance in this art union, and the response lias been a most satisfactory one. For the outlay of a humble half-crown contributors have a chance of participating in £5000 worth of prizes, chief of ivhich is a now brick bungalow of six rooms in Invercargill, valued at £1000. If the contributor misses that, there'is a bungalow of live rooms, valued at £850; another valued at £650, and still another aylued at £500. These are illustrated in the advertisement inserted in this issue. Three new motor-cars, valued at £400, £325, and £200 respectively; a five-acre seotion, £300; gold nugget, £300; lady's fur sealskin coat, to be made to order on the latest design at a cost of 100 guineas, and a new motor-cycle, worth £55, are also on the list of prizes, to say nothing of fourteen other chances. This offer of si) many handsome prizes at the low price of 2s. 6d. a- ticket is only possible by reason of tlio fact that the houses, land, and other tilings are generous gifts by some of Southland's practical patriots. The whole of the proceeds are to go to fhs New Zealand Wounded Soldiers' Fund. Therefore, ■those who invest in a ticket in the hopo of becoming the owner of a handsome
home can console themselves, if they draw a blank, with the knowledge that tlioy havo at least helped to contribute a little for tho wounded heroes. An application form for tickets is included in tlio advertisement, which can be easily filled in and mailed to Mr. B. Sutherland, Box 377, "Wellington. Mr. Sutherland, who ir a member of tlie railways olerical staff, gives his services free to tlie cause of tlio wounded soldiers. All moneys received too late for tlio sale of tickets will bo returned to senders, but if speculators ant promptly no application need bo too late.
