Auckland, October 14.
The Baptist Union carried unanimously a resolution protesting against the legalisation of lotteries', for" patriotic purposes.- ! ■ The Rev. G. Howard Lawrence was. admitted 1 a member of the •union".
It was resolved to hold'a: self-denial •week yearly in aid of Home and Foreign Missions. ■■ : -1 ... ,
The treasurer'estimates'tliati for . the ensuing year the receipts will be £1292. and the expenditure £862, exclusive of a special grant of £100 for Timaru. .
