ONSLOW COUNCIL
The Onslow Borough Council held a further meeting last night to consider tho clauses iu Mr. Fulton's report on the water scheme proposals. The Mayor (Mr. C: C. Crump) presided, and there were also present: Councillors J. C. Gardner, A.. W. C. Palmer, L. A. Browne, H. Brenton-Rulo, C. Bowden, J. G. Smith, AP E., Btidd, and J. M. Dale.
A long discussion ensued on the rainfall schedule, and Mr. Fulton supplied some amended figures showing the averago rainfall for the driest two months during the last 52 years as 3.77 in. instead of S.9Bin. The Mayor stated that he had seen Mr. Bates, who supplied figures to show the average rainfall for Wellington for the two driest months during the same period as 3.75 m. The amended schedule was adopted. \ Dealing with 'the reservoir capacity, the Mayor said that Mr. Fulton's figures dealt with a supposed population of 3000 —1000 more than they had in' the borough to-day. At the same time, in one portion of his report ho said there was practically sufficient for a population of 5000. Councillor Dale contended that even under Mr. Fulton's report they would be 308,000 gallons short during the two driest months. Last year the actual rainfall for the two driest months was less than Mr. Fulton's average for the 52 years. Councillor Smith quoted official figures in a contention that with a 5,000,000gallou reservoir they would always have sufficient supply for 5000 people. ' Some further portions of the; report were considered before the meeting adjourned.
