UPPER HUTT COURT
The sitting of the Magistrate's Court at Upper Hutt yesterday was presided over by Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M. For allowing cattle to wander, the following were fined 55., with costs 75., in default 24 hours in gaol; G. Southee, A. Whiteman, J. Grant, M. Varhan, A.' Howell, O. IVitchard, and J. A. Hazelwood; E. Burns and Clarke were convicted and discharged; E. Cottle was fined 205., with costs 75., in default three days in gaol; J. Williamson was finod 10s., with costs 75., in default 48 hours' imprisonment. For performing plumbing work without being a registered plumber, Job Harrison was fined 205., with costs 75., in default thre9 days in gaol. CIVIL CASES. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following undefended civil casesßenge and Prate v. B. E. Skelton, £3 12s. lid., costs 55., solicitor's fee, 55.; A. K. Jowitt v. James Burling, £6. 9s. 3d., costs Bs., solicitor's fee 55.; A. and N. Keys v. B. E. Skelton, £3 lis. Sd., costs 55., and solicitor's fee ss.
Tho case L. M. Hobbs v. J. M. Ferguson, claim by p'aintiff for 17 Goldeu Hamburg cockerels and pullets alleged to have been detained by defendant, \vas settled by a payment of 175., defendant to keep tho birds. In a counterclaim, J. S. Ferguson v. L. M. Hobbs, Mr. Neilson appearing for plaintilt' and Mr. Webb for defendant, judgment was given for plaintiff for £13 14s. 10d., with costs 10s., and solicitor's fee £1 6s.
In the judgment summons, Joseph Ricketts v. Alfred Marsden, debtor, was'ordered to pay amount on or before October 31.
