CONGESTION AT THE FXONT. ilis TtleeraDh-Press A«foeiaUon.- | Duncdin, October 11. A meeting of the Patriotic Association was held to-day. The Southland Patriotic Committee wrote suggesting tlie co-ordination of all patriotic committees, and sending all gift 6 for soldlers_ to the Defense authorities for indiscriminate issue, ensuring that all men are treated alike. Mr. Speight said he hadl sent a number of boxes to the front, and had been told that it was almost impossible for the men to receive them. He had been' told that 700 tons of gifts were in store unable to he handled. Father Coffey said he had been informed by Mrs. O'Neill that sho had sent two parcels a week to her husband, Dr. O'Neill, since he left the Dominion, but he had not' received any. # The Ladies' Committee was authorised to draw on • the association to the extent of £100, if it were thought necessary to supplement the gifts already sent.
