N.Z. TROTTING ASSOCIATION

—« HUTT CLUB'S CHANGE OF NAME. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurch, October G. A meeting of the Board of the New Zealand Trotting Association was held this afternoon. Present: Messrs! P. Selig (president), W. J. Hopkins, W. H. Denton, H. .T. Palmer, H. W. Kitehinzhaui," and H. -P. Nicoll. A letter was read from the Hutt' Yal-. Icy Trotting Club statins that its namo had been changed to the Wellington Trotling Club. Tho president said that it was necessary for the club to obtain the association's authority for tho chango of name. Ho suggested that the club should be advised to make , application as required under Rulo 48.' Tho president stated that tho case of the New Brighton Trotting Club was, now in. a position to bo dealt with. Ho read a letter which, had been sent to the association in July last by Mr, R. O. Duncan, the clubs auditor, who forwarded a.copy of a circular he had sent to the mentSsx of the club with reference to its balance-sheet. '

Mr.. Selig said: that when , this correspondence canio before the association it was decided to write to the club for an explanation. In the meantime Mr. E .A. Archer, president of tho club, commenced an action for damages against the auditor, which, for the time being, stopped any further inquiry. Further correspondence from the club showed that an in-, junction had been granted, to prevent. th« club from doing things which might have defeated the. ends of justice. 'Though, no official information Had been received it had been stated that Mr. Archer had discontinued his case, and • now an official communication had been received from the club. It was decided that the matter, be dealt with in committee.

On the motion of Mr. Hopkins, it was decided that, provided the association w'as satisfied, no license-should be issued to anv person who in tho f opinion of any individual club under the jurisdiction of the association is an undesirable person to frequent that club's course. •H. Glidding's application for a license was feferred to tho Auckland Trotting Club for* report. The board was unable to deal with the New Brighton Club's case for want of a quorum, two of its members being members of the New Brighton Club and therefore ineligible to sit. ;
