Women's National Reserve in Cisborno.

Tho Women's Branch of tho National Rcsorvo of Now Zealand in Gisborno is displaying much keenness in tho work it has undertaken to perform, and it is the great dosiro of numbers to mako it thoroughly efficient, so that it may bo of real holp in tlio war crisifl. Tlio committeo is eapablo and enthusiastic, states a correspondent, and it has tho ox-Mayoress, Mrs. Kirk, as'•president, tho Mayoress as vice-president, and tho secretary Miss Faubert is well' known throughout tho Gisborno district, her experience and knowledge of the world making liar invaluable to such an organisation, especially when numbers of tho members aro young peoplo. Tlio co-oporation and help of the doctors are groat factors in the success of tho movement, and though very busy peoplo they have helped in many ways the work of tho AVomen's Reserve. Last week over 260 members gathered to form into classes; and t'hc president and secretary were correspondingly busy. Feildlng Notes. Tho children's annual fancy dross ball was ncld in tho Drill _ Hall, Foilding, last week. Tho committee worked hard to make everything a succcss, and their efforts were not in vain, as thero were more children taking part than in previous years.; Tho dresses, too numerous to mention individually, were splendidly carried out/, many appearing in the frocks and robes they wore at the coronation held previously. Among those present were: Misses Ancell, Jones, Brock, Sporle, Gorton, Bell, Knyvett, Bait rap, Pawsou, Clapliam, Hocken, M'Guire, Rush, Swainson, Fry,, Myers, Bell, Blaxall, Redpath, Hubiicr, Smith, Seddon, Christmas, Miller,' Masters, Murphy, Beattie, Mitchell, Thompson, and many others.

On Friday afternoon a most successful tea was held in. the Parish Hall to collect Christmas gifts for our soldiers at tho front. A very enjoyable musical programme was arranged, those contributing' being Mesdames -Neill,- Fry, Bayliss, Holt, Walker, Misses Hare, Guthrie, and others. Among those present were: Mesdames Innes-Jonesj Walker, llaggitt, Neill, Gorton, Miles, Murphy, Twigg, R-edmayne, Roberts, Atkinson, Elliott, Miller Bramwell Penny, Holt, Cobbe, Remington-Jones, Myers, Stewart, M'Lean,.Richards, Guthrie, Barton, Halliday, Hogg, Meyrick, Binris, Shannon, Misfees AValker, Hare, Neill, Guthrie, Jones, Cobbe, Haybittle, M'Beth, Shannon, Miller, Burrell, Bruce, Gorton Waymouth, Smith, and. many others.

Miss Smith (Hawke's Bay) is tlie guest of Mrs. Stewart. - '' Mrs. AVillis has returned from Greatford. . . . ~ .•

Mrs. J. Haggitt is the guest of Mrs. G. Haggitt. Miss D'Oyley. (Wellington) is with Mrs. Hitcliings. Mrs. Bramwell has returned from' Wellington. ■

Miss Brown has gone to Wellington. Mrs, Lethbridge has returned from Wanganui.

Miss'Vickers (Elthain) has been stay ing with Mrs. Elliott.

Mrs. Kavariagh has been staying .with' Mrs.-Richmond. . Miss Hawke (Wellington) is ' staying with Mrs. A. Hawke. '' . , Walwetu Coif Club. Tho-Red-Cross war medal, postponed from June, was won by Miss A. Gaynor, net score 76, . The next best cards 5 were handed ,in bv Miss 'Asquith (78) and Miss Bodmin (80).'

Mr. Varney, secretary of the Y.M.T/.A., has been handed the sum of £21 by Mrs. Kersley as the result .of the sale of flowers which has been conducted at the entrance to George and Kersley's establishment on Lambton Quay. The money is to be expended upon sick and wounded soldiers m convalescent homes and hospitals in Egypt, and is being forwarded to Mr. J. L. Hay, New Zealand Y.M.C.A. field • service secretary, at Zeitoun, Egypt. A "rose day" is being organised shortly for tlie same purposo,

Mr. and Mrs. Osborne-Gibbes and Miss Gibbes returned to Wellington this week from a- visit to Sydney.
