Tip till 9 p.m. on Monday Mr. A. E. Wliyte, secretary of the Wellington Racing Club, will take entries for ' tlie spring .meeting,; to' be held on October 23 and 25.

Acceptances 'for the Hawko's Bay Hunt Club meeting, to be held on 'Friday, and from the .Jockey Club's Spring Meeting on the following day, close to-morrow night. "Mr. W. J. Stratton is secretary of both clubs.

Entries . for the Waverley-Waitotara Racing Club's annual meeting , ■ to be held on October >25, closo to-night, at S o clock.

The attention of all concerned is drawn -to-tho programme'of the Ashhiirst-Poh'a-nguia Racing Club. The club-will hold its annual meeting on November 2-1, and at present the ..committeo is Working, very hard getting all tlin appointments in order. ' •

At Uto Hawkesbury meeting on-Septem-ber 25, Gringo, who is by Varco from the New Zealand-bred Windgunj won. the Spring Handicap. Colonel Soult was amongst tlie runners; and finished fourth

It is just twelve months yesterday since Gigandra won his last race, and, strange to say, it was the Shorts Handicap at Hundwick which fell to him.- On that occasion he carried 10st. .31b. Gigandra also started in the Epsom Handicap on Saturday. This .was his fifth appearance in the saino race.

Cetinge, winner of the A.J.C. Derby, and Clibborn Stakes at the .bi» Eandwick meeting, was also successful in ■ the Hawkesbury Guineas~on September 25. -

The good showing of Reputation (Sst. 131b.) in the Metropolitan Handicap, will draw attention to his prospects m the Caulfield Cup, in which he has been awarded Bst. 81b. The race is run on October Id.

Killaioo was made favourite' in the Hurdles at Mentone on September 22, but once again lie failed, and could only finish fourth. The' winner turned up in Rongopai, one of the late J. B. M'Donald's breed, and the same horse won at Moonee Valley on September 25. On both occasions lie was ridden, by E. Cameron. \(U t-bo .annual meeting of the Victoria Amateur Turf Club, one of the members asked why the nomination ■of Do Gama was refused, seeing that the Victorian Encing Club accepted it. ' The chairman refused to give the mooting any information.

.Tho result of the Metropolitan Handicap showed tho Spring Stakes form to be correct. It is not often that weight-for-age form works out in handicaps, but it certainly did this time. To concede the imported horse William tho Silent ijearly two. stone shows St. Carwyne to be a champion. Imputation coul ; d have no cljarice on Saturday's form,'' as he was meeting tho winner on 101b. worso terms. The victory of St. Canvyne would be popular, for most people' thought he had won the same event last year, when the judge placed him third.

That good mare Sinapis shows signs of returning to form, and at Otaki last week she was finishing very fast at the end of tlie Railway Handicap.' Trainer J. W. Sjott has worked a big improvement m her, and at Masterton next week she may afpin credit her owner with the-same race she won two years ago, , and prior to scoring in the New Zealand Cup".

St.- Canvyne was pqtml favourite with Reputation for tho Metropolitan Handicap when the last mail left Sydney. The runner-up, William the Silent, was also in the market, and so.both for a win and a, place the ringmen would get a severe handling. Such a tlung as the favonrite to win both the Epsom and Metropolitan Handicaps lias not occurred during the last twenty years..'
