The "Times's" Salonika correspon« dent has receifed a report from Mitylene that the 7th Regiment of the 20 th Division of a Turkish army dorps stationed near Karaburnu mutinied and fled to tho mountains.Th.e"divisionhas, been ordered elsewhere, and the ' commander dismissed. . There is undoubted despondency and demoralisation in tho Turkish army. '

Mitylene reports that there was a fierce day-long naval bombardment in ' the Straits on Tuesday.Salonika' reports that the' Germans ; are employing thirty-thousand to strengthen the Chataldja-forts. Four: parallel lines of railway connecting the forts have been constructed,; also ditches and canals, to enable them to flood the plains outside if necessary.
A QUESTION IN PARLIAMENT. London, September 30.Mr.'R. L. Outhwaite in the House of Commons asked whether Sir George Buchanan's-(British Ambassador)/statement from' Petrograd was . true that the attack on the Dardanelles was partly due to a Russian request, so as to divert the Turks from the Caucasus. Lord Robfcrt. Cecil, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, replied that the operation doubtless drew tbe Turks from ' the Russian and Egj'ptian fronts; A' fuller statement was inexpedient. • J -'
OPERATIONS ON THE TICRIS. London,.September 30, 9.30 p.m. The High Commissioner reports "In recent operations oh the Tigris, the position of the enemy on both banks of the river below Kut-El-Amara was captjired by a British-Indian force after a desperate resistance by the Turks. Total prisoners, 1100 and 650. The total enemy force was estimated at 8000 regulars, assisted by many tribesmen. Our casualties were under 500, including 20 officers." • :
OFFICIAL REPORT. ■ (Rec. October 1, 9.35 p.m.) ' London, -October 1. Official: "After three days of fight, ing we dislodged the Turks from thoir position on ; both banks of tho River rigris, seven miles below Kut-el-Amara. Tho northern defences were carried by a gallant assault. Tlie Turks fought with the greatest tenacity, and were dislodged trench by trench. Their losses i*: dead were severe. The Turks fled to Baghdad. We occupied Kut-el-Amara ana took 1650 prisoners. "The enemy's trenches were elaborate, and extended for miles, with an extensive mine system. "Our casualties were 500, mostly, light wounds." .
