CHARGE OF RECEIVING STOLEN STAMPS

Dunedin, Octolrer 1. ■William Lawrence Hooper appeared iu the Police Court this morning charged with having received adhesive stamps to the value of £40,. tho property. of the - knowing them to be dishonestly obtained.- Chief-Detective Bishop applied for 'a remand, owing; to having to bring a witness from Wellington. He. also announced that there were four other minor informations laid, not indictable—three for breaches of the Stamp Act and one.-for,breach of the Tost and Telegraph Act. Defendant's counsel entered a plea: of not guilty. A remand was granted til} Friday next.
