HUTT BOROUGH AFFAIRS
A meeting of the Lower Hutt Borough Council was held last evening, Regarding tho matter, of stray dogs in the borough, the ranger repoirted that about 250 were registered last- year, whilst the number registered to date was 200. V After some discussion it was decided to instruct the ranger to enforce tho provisions of the Cog .Registration Act. The-engineer's report' stated that the cost of the work .at Laing's Road improvement was £4 Bs. 2d. The dedication at Victoria Street was also completed, at a.cost of £65 12s. 9d. In respect; to the' extension of the watermains to•Taita;; the report stated that it wouldbq' inadvisable on account of the loii;;position 'of I tlie: reservoir, and 'because a:';large;.proportion .of the water used. Is required' for the hydraulic ■ sewago, lifts, Awhicli would reduce the pressure, at.'Taita to, almost nil.
