THE LANDINGS ON GALLIPOLI
GENERAL HAMILTON'S FIRST DISPATCH. . An'illustrated booklet containing Sir lan Hamilton's first;dispatch embodying the story of the historic landing on Gallipoli has been published by the Hastings "Tribune" Mid issued through Messrs. Gordon and Gotch. The London "Spectator," referring to tho dispatch, says: "Every man, woman, and-child ought to read the story of these landings, and remember always as ho reads that the vast majority of the troops— tho Naval Division, the Territorials, and the Australians and New Zealanders,even the 29th Division, which has made ait imperishable name for itself—had not had much training for war. . .<. Sir lan Hamilton says of the landings: 'No finer feat of arms lias_ ever been achieved by the British soldier or any other soldier.' " ■ • The profits from the sale of the booklet are to be devoted to the New Zealand Fund in aid of the soldi ere who 'have.'been wounded, the -women who have been made -widows, and the children who have been made orphans in the achievement of the glorious deeds, recorded in this and future' dispatches. The booklet, which is now _ obtainable from all .newsagents, contains, besides an excellent map, pictures_ of places mentioned in the General's dispatch. It is the intention of the Hastings "Tribune" Company to publish in similar form Sir lan Hamilton's later dispatches, and tho series, -when completed, will bo a full official history of the Gallipoli campaign.. .
