MIRAMAR BOROUGH AFFAIRS

The Mayor (Mr. E. Townsend). presided at a-meeting of 'the Miramar Borough • Council, on Thursday. The following were also .present:—Councillors S.'M. Stone, H. Hawthorne, M. Tracey; W. H. Green, .and J. Pollock. TTie Miramar Municipal Electors'_ Association wrote, asking the council to consider the question of placing two or three light's on Miramar Quay. It was i decided that the council could not do anything dofinite till an agreement had been arrived at between the City Council and the borough. : .. A.petition from a number of ratepay. ors and residents of Worser Bay asked that something should be done to abatf the . sand-drift at Worser Bay. The engineer (Mr. T. 0.. Fox) reported that for .the twelve months, ending September 10, the council had spent the sum of £3G Bs. Bd. in removing sand from the roadway channels and footpaths on the Marine .Parade. The engineer recommended that the council should level off the existing sandhills, making one grade from the roadway to the highwater mark, and to cover the sand with a thin layer of clay, and also sow the whole area with yellow lupin. He estimated the cost at about £101.—'The re-' port was adopted,' and it was decided to go on with the work as soon as possible. ' \
