Proposals to borrow £74,500 to extend, • this electric tramways to the Hospital' by two different . .routes .;wieie, turned; down. A loan of £36,750 to,extend'.the tramways aloiig Hastings Street South, and £3250 for a motor lorry tower wagon arid water sprinkler was agreed to. The' ratepayers also 1 sanctioned the proposal to borrow £180,000 for the px- ' ' tcntion "of lighting mains,- £4000, for tbo : purchase of' h. motor fire"engine,""and £5500'for'the repaynient'of an overdraft incurred in lighting work. A loan''of • £9000 for the cemetery was approved. Only 700 out; of 4000 ratepayers recordcd their vote's.
